Akwerius

Akwerius is an African-born poet currently living in the Bay Area. In a time when conscious music is scarce on the airways, kwe comes with a fresh flavor and sound that combines elements of Afro Rock, Roots Reggae and Hip Hop into a nu sonic concoction dubbed Afro Roots Hop. In 2006, he started Voices of the New Millennium, a grassroots community media organization using urban arts & expression to educate and empower youth into voices of change and formed the Afromerican Project with Nap Nat. His debut album, Rocks, as well as his book of poetry, Dirges of Becoming are both due for release in November 2007. See the AfroRootsHop website for more.
