Takenya Jene'a

TaKenya Jene'a is a multi-talented artist, singer/songwriter and actress. Her artistic expressions reflects the love she has for nature and the beauty she sees in mankind.

TaKenya began performing when she was five years old in a production of "Annie". However, her mother notes that at the age of three months, TaKenya had already begun singing to her parents.

Then in high-school TaKenya was a part of an award winning show choir, "Faces." Winning the title of most outstanding female vocalist/performer in several competitions state-wide.

TaKenya received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Art Therapy from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. While in college she began perfecting her crafts by performing in the University’s productions of the “The Marriage of Figaro,” and “The Colored Museum.” She was also a founding member of the Multi-Cultural Voices of Praise(M.V.O.P) gospel choir.

TaKenya's has had an opportunity to play Effie in a Chicago Theater production of “Dreamgirls”. A few months later she was blessed to perform in Mike Malones “Black Nativity” a month before his passing. She has also performed on well known stages and theaters such as The Goodman Theater Chicago, The House of Blues Chicago, Drury Lane Theater Chicago, Apollo Theater in NewYork, and the Regal Theater Chicago.

Currently, TaKenya continues to share her talents weekly around the Chicagoland area at well known local clubs such as Lefleur Delis, Wild Hare, Checkboard Lounge, Red Kiva and many more!
